Welcome and Introduction!

 Hello out there!

Welcome to my blog that I am using for my personal and professional photography. My name is Michael Vincent and I have had a passion for photography for about 16 years and a passion for aviation for my entire life. Photography is something that I have done in my spare time, and have recently decided to explore starting a small photography business. In this blog I'll post photos and discuss the background and circumstances behind the photos. There may be some discussion on technique also.

I think my love for photography stems from being a child fascinated with aviation, hanging around my grandparent's house on a small airfield in Iowa, poring over aviation magazines and books while taking in the beauty and lure of flight. Then in college I worked at a local airport in Wichita Kansas, and had the urge to capture some of the beautiful scenes I was fortunate enough to witness at work. Those scenes were usually aircraft posed against sunrises or sunsets which hooked me for good - I ended up buying my first camera. I soon signed up for photography classes as all of my elective credits at Wichita State University and started shooting with a variety of film formats and working in the dark room to develop my photography eye. A large portion of my portfolio surrounds aviation, but I also enjoy portraiture, landscape and just about anything else that suits my fancy.

Initially my posts will probably talk about some of my previous work, but today I am sharing some photos that are hot off the press! This past weekend was gorgeous and my wife and I decided to play with the dogs in the backyard with the garden hose. Our younger dog Amelia has always hated water and would attack waves and struggle during baths. Recently we discovered she and our Corgi, Karl, really enjoy chasing and attacking the stream of water that comes out of the hose and this weekend I decided to get the camera out to capture the chaos.

Even as she's gotten older and fatter, Amelia can jump surprising heights

They both love this game

This looks brutal but she purposefully throws herself in front of the hose

While not pursuing the water as aggressively as Amelia, Karl still loves the chase
I love how the high shutter speed captures so much detail in the water
Such an odd pose
100% focus on the water.

Shaking it off
